Street Photography along Penhaus Road

I have been to this place since 2004 whenever I visit my company's secretary. The whole place has been rejuvenated. Interesting to see a high end cake shop next to a backpacker's hotel.

Lunch in Jakarta

Usually lunches in Jakarta are taken at the customer's location. It is packaged nicely. It is interesting that each small item is packed in a small plastic bag. One would need to pour out all the little packages to make a complete lunch. It needs patience before the stomach can be rewarded.

Level 46 - Room with a View

I am on another trip to Jakarta. I had booked the Harris fx Sudirman and requested for a high floor.

Not bad for the view from my room.

Breakfast in the City's Central

It was nearly 8am and I was at Central in the heart of the city in Singapore. Breakfast was a toss up between the MacDonald's breakfast (which I had not had for ages) and Ya Kun with its sock coffee, half boiled eggs and kaya-butter toast. The debate lasted a few minutes and I took out my smartphone to find the nearest Ya Kun.

Anything on a red plate tends to taste better.

Photos from Jakarta

I was on a business trip to Jakarta. I also managed to meet up a former classmate, Arif, and stayed with him and his family after that. Next year, it will be 10 years since we first met, then I can describe him as an old classmate.

Interior view of a new mall called Kota Kasablanka
My friend, Arif, asked me what I wanted for lunch. I told him that I needed a light meal as I was coughing. We had Japanese noodle at Kota Kasablanka.

Keropok found in the best seafood restaurant in North Jakarta.
Arif's dad invited me to dinner with his brother's family. When I heard that we were going back to the seafood place at North Jakarta, I abandoned my requests for a light meal. Arif could not stop laughing.

Kiddy Rides met Motorbike
Arif brought me to his father's tailor (and now it is his tailor) to make a suit for his wife's convocation. As I awaited for him to get his measurements done up, I noticed the man with the kiddy rides. An interesting sight to behold.

Kampong Lunch
Arif's office was located in another kampong within Jakarta. He was busy and always on the phone. This lunch reminded me of my days in Karawang when I was working for JVC. It was simple dish of rice, with tofu and deep fried beans. There was also a small piece of chicken meat. The chilli was hot beyond description but I still had to have a bit despite nursing the cough.

At the Departure Gate
I text Arif to thank him and his family for their warm hospitality. It gave me another view of Jakarta from Arif. He kept mentioning that he was staying in a kampong; we were eating kampong lunch. This last part of the trip gave me a very different perspective of Jakarta. This was very far from the type that I am used to whenever I am on a business trip in Jakarta - the hotel, the mall, the food court. Life is about people, friendship and eating together.

View from Level 52

I was doing a corporate training in Jakarta. This is the view from the training room. The photo was taken on an early Saturday afternoon. That's why there is no jam on the roads.

Has the Rainy Season Cometh?

It was a huge downpour. Even the PIE highway was flooded at certain sections near Bukit Timah.

I decided to do a pit stop at Thomson Plaza due to the high rain.

Here comes the rain again...

Green Earth

The fires are burning in Sumatra and the dusts in Singapore. Here's the result.

20 Jun 2013. The Sky is nigh.

The rain was then hoped for. It did come. Some in hail form. Just managed to duck into the car before the heavy downpour. A form of nature "washing" the skies.

Royal Flush

I saw this sign in the Bintan ferry's toilet. I guess we all have royal butt. No "buts" about that!

At the Tampines Expressway Exit 3C, this is the building scene between Pasir Ris Dr 8 and Tampines Ave 12. See the construction of new HDB flats over the next few months.

After the Morning Rain

There was a heavy rain storm in the early hours at the beach resort. When the sun came out, the rain was gone.

The Beach Chair is waiting to be cleaned.

This is definitely more than the morning dew

Heels and the Beach

I was on holiday in Bintan. My wife highlighted this sight. Well, as long as one enjoys oneself on the beach, who cares what you wear to walk.

This is a "high" heel

There is a flower logo on the front. Watched too much CSI.

French Road

I was at my company's secretary place today. I saw that the opposite building had a face-lift. The vegetable rice store is gone and so is the muah-chang kweh store.

I was told that this building will get a mark over too. I guess the hotel guests looking down will have a nicer view in the future.

I like the lines.

Hole in the Ground; Metal in the Floor

I was just testing my Nikon D4 at Marina Barrage while waiting for the client and chanced upon this view while firing blind.

What's that embedded metal piece doing in the ground?
Not satisfied, I shot a few more without looking at the view finder.

Tilted Head

This reminded me of the times when m son looks at me with his tilted head. I saw it as I was standing behind the table at a class in Bencoolen Street.

Earning a Living

This is the que by the taxi drivers to pick up passengers from Changi Airport during the evening peak hour. It  is taken at the car park nearest the taxi stand at T2. It must be a long wait given so many 3 lanes to navigate and it snakes right out to the main road.
